In July I travelled to Kigali as part of the USA delegation and as a Global Partner of the Tennis Rwanda Children’s Foundation.

A cake sale organised by Fiona Jagla and so generously supported by the amazing members of Douglas LTC enabled me to donate €1000 to the TRCF Founder Umulisa Joseline.

Jose is the Rwanda Number One player and 7-time national champion. Her horrific personal story of surviving the 1994 Genocide led her to starting a tennis program in 2022 that has now reached 1500 of the most vulnerable children across 7 districts.

Visiting the children in places such as UNHCR Mahama Refugee Camp was both inspiring and emotional. The most important task ahead is to ensure that we continue to support and develop not just the kids but also the 14 local coaches who are dedicating so much to this initiative.

TRCF thanks DLTC and maybe we can share some cakes again in the future to immeasurably enrich the lives of these beautiful children.
