Membership & Rules

Juniors can either join as part of a family or individually. Family membership includes two adults and all the children who are under 18 or still in secondary education.

Any junior member of the club may use the tennis courts at any time between 8.30am and 6pm, except on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays when juniors may play from 8.30am to 10pm. (This includes junior one-on-one coaching).

A Senior member may play with a junior from 6-7pm Monday to Friday.

No one-on-one Junior Coaching from Monday to Friday between 6pm-10pm.

Junior members are the responsibility of their parents while they are on the Club premises. An exception to this rule is a junior or child attending for the purpose of junior coaching or match play in which case the junior member shall remain under the supervision of the Club coach or coaches.

Coaching

Junior coaching occurs Monday to Friday between 14:15 and 19.00 and sessions run for an hour for club sessions and 1.5/2 hours for squad sessions.

Junior group coaching may be permitted on Monday-Friday between 6-7pm on a limited basis. The days of the week and the courts to be used shall be specified by the Committee.

The coaching session runs in conjunction with the school terms of the local schools.

In order to participate juniors have to be members (junior membership is currently (€122 per annum) and the coaching fees are approximately €108 for a 12 week club coaching term. Pro rata membership is available to coincide with the coaching terms.

Types of junior coaching programmes at DLTC

The Club Programme is aimed at juniors that want to play tennis socially, for fun and enjoyment, and those who are not or not yet interested in playing competitive tennis.
The Squad Programme is a more intensive programme that is aimed at seriously minded juniors who want to aspire to maximise their potential to play matches, tournaments, internal competitions and play in a more competitive environment and quite often represent the club in team events.
